Construction work has begun at the new robotized distribution center
The center near Turda is part of an ample Autonet group logistical infrastructure development project, which includes two more centers, in Bucharest and Budapest. The main objective of this project is to improve merchandise supply and distribution to customers from the Central European region, each of the three warehouses being equipped with AutoStore robotized modules. Furthermore, plans for a Belgrade warehouse have been finalized as well, this project being in the approval and authorization phase.
“The special conditions of the last two years have somewhat delayed the progress set by the initial plan, but now we are very pleased that we started construction of this new distribution center, which represents an investment of 30 million euros. Together with our Bucharest and Budapest warehouses, this new unit is part of an extensive development project, the value of which amounts to 55 million euros.”, said Cristian Matei, Chief Operating Officer, Autonet Import Romania.
The new distribution center is positioned on a 11-hectare lot and will have a total surface of 22,700 square meters, with 49 loading/unloading gates. The automated AutoStore module will be equipped with 120,000 storage boxes, 70 robots and 20 workstations. Additionally, the warehouse will include storage space for 12,000 pallets.
When operational, the Turda distribution center will become, together with the Satu-Mare and Bucharest facilities, one of the most important logistical hubs in Romania. For the Autonet Group Holding partners, this will bring faster distribution and high availability, among other logistical benefits.
